Heavy Western Canadian Select for January delivery traded at a $13 per barrel discount to West Texas Intermediate on Tuesday, the largest since March, as oil sands production rebounds and pipeline constraints reappear. US Gulf Coast pricing shows a similar pattern, with Canadian barrels priced about $4.55 below WTI, the widest spread since January. The increased Canadian production is hitting a global market already struggling with oversupply, soft demand and weakening crude benchmarks.

Today, at noon EST, the 2026 World Cup draw kicks off in Washington, DC, with celebrity guests like Wayne Gretzky, Tom Brady, Shaquille O’Neal, and a new system that makes explaining Magic: The Gathering rules to your mom seem easy.
It’s big. FIFA expanded next year’s World Cup tournament—set to take place in June in the US, Canada, and Mexico—from the usual 32 nations to 48. And because six spots won’t be finalized until the end of March, there will technically be a record 64 teams included in today’s draw.
Here’s how it works:
⚽️ Each team has already been placed into one of four pots based on their FIFA ranking.
⚽️ A ball, each corresponding to a specific country, is drawn live to determine which group each team will be placed in. Countries will play the other three teams in their group to determine who advances to a knockout-style “Round of 32.”
⚽️ This year’s system was tweaked so that, for the first time, the top four teams (Spain, Argentina, France, and England) can’t play each other until the semifinals.

Profitability is tightening for US liquefied natural gas exporters as rising Henry Hub prices run up against weaker global benchmarks. The spread between Henry Hub and European TTF prices has shrunk to about $4.70 per million British thermal units, its narrowest in more than four years, according to LSEG. Analysts warn many US LNG export contracts turn unprofitable below a $4 spread, and margins under $2 could force operators to scale back output.
