Targa Advances Forza Pipeline Linking Delaware to Waha

Waha, Delaware, Gas, Pipeline,

Targa Resources Corp. has launched a non-binding open season for its proposed Forza Pipeline Project, an interstate natural gas pipeline aimed at expanding capacity from the Delaware Basin in southeast New Mexico to the Waha Hub in Texas. The announcement underscores the company’s effort to accommodate rising natural gas production in one of the most active regions of the Permian Basin.

Project Scope and Design

The Forza Pipeline is designed to span 36 miles and consist of a 36-inch diameter line with the ability to transport up to 750,000 dekatherms per day of natural gas. Its receipt points will be located in Lea County, New Mexico, while its delivery points will tie into multiple connections near the Waha Hub in west Texas.

The Waha Hub, already a cornerstone for Permian gas flows, links production to downstream demand markets and LNG export facilities. By building direct connections to both new and existing gas processing facilities, the Forza Project aims to ease bottlenecks in the Delaware Basin and provide shippers with firm transportation options that support both in-basin consumption and broader market delivery.

Pending sufficient commitments from shippers and receipt of regulatory approvals, Targa anticipates completing the Forza Pipeline in mid-2028.

Open Season Details

The open season for the Forza Project officially opened at 8:00 a.m. CST on September 2, 2025, and will remain open until 5:00 p.m. CST on October 2, 2025. During this period, prospective shippers can submit bids for primary firm transportation service, securing their place in the project’s initial capacity offering.

According to Targa, parties interested in participating can access detailed information on the company’s Natural Gas Pipelines page. Pro forma agreements are available to prospective customers after execution of a confidentiality agreement, a standard practice for projects of this scale.

The non-binding structure of the open season allows shippers to express interest without immediate contractual obligation. This step provides Targa with the market signals needed to determine the appropriate scale of the project and finalize key commercial commitments.

Strategic Importance

The Forza Project represents another move by Targa to expand its natural gas infrastructure footprint in the Permian Basin. With natural gas production from the Delaware Basin continuing to grow, midstream operators are under pressure to deliver new transportation solutions that can keep pace with supply growth.

Forza will strengthen Targa’s ability to serve upstream producers while also providing reliable access to the Waha Hub, a critical gateway to Gulf Coast LNG export demand. If fully subscribed and approved, the pipeline could become a key element in balancing regional supply with both domestic and international consumption markets.

By targeting completion in 2028, the Forza Project also aligns with the expected wave of new LNG liquefaction capacity along the Gulf Coast, providing a synchronized opportunity for producers in the Delaware Basin to capture global demand growth.
