Russia ended a diesel export ban Friday weeks after the government ordered energy companies to halt all fuel exports indefinitely in a bid to combat domestic shortages.

U.S. energy firms this week cut the number of oil and natural gas rigs operating for a third week in a row for the first time since early September, energy services firm Baker Hughes said in its closely followed report on Oct. 6.
The total oil and gas rig count, an early indicator of future output, fell by four to 619 in the week to Oct. 6, the lowest since February 2022, putting the total rig count down 143, or 19%, below this time last year.
U.S. oil rigs fell five to 497this week, their lowest since February 2022, while gas rigs rose two to 118.
Benchmark U.S. crudeoil for November delivery rose 48 centsto $82.79 a barrel Friday. Brent crude for December delivery rose 51 cents to $84.58 a barrel.
