The first U.S. wind auction for development rights in the Pacific Ocean attracted more than $757 million in winning bids on Dec. 7 as developers looked to enter deepwater offshore California.
Provisional winners of the five wind lease areas, totaling nearly 373,270 acres offshore central and northern California, were RWE Offshore Wind Holdings, California North Floating, Equinor Wind US, Central California Offshore Wind and Invenergy California Offshore Wind.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is under investigation by the House Ethics Committee, the panel said in a statement on Wednesday, without disclosing the reason for the probe.
The ethics panel said in a brief statement that a matter regarding the New York Democrat had been transmitted to it by the Office of Congressional Ethics on June 23, 2022, and that the panel is extending its review.
The committee said it would announce its course of action on the matter in the next congressional session, which begins in January.

Twenty-five people suspected of plotting to overthrow the German government were arrested early yesterday in raids involving thousands of officers across Germany. More than two dozen others are being investigated in relation to the scheme.
The arrests come amid a surge in antistate activity in Germany, partly in response to pandemic restrictions, including a failed attempt to storm parliament in 2020. Earlier this year, German officials announced they would disarm 1,500 extremists as part of a crackdown on domestic threats.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA, closed about flat, while the S&P 500 SPX fell 0.2% and the Nasdaq Composite COMP, dropped 0.5%, preliminary data from FactSet show. The S&P 500 finished with its longest losing streak since October 12, according to Dow Jones Market Data. Of the S&P 500's 11 sectors, only healthcare, consumer staples, and real estate finished with gains.
